Fuel demand increases significantly as engine load increases.
A partially restricted filter may provide enough fuel for the engine to idle normally at the dock.
Once the vessel is underway and fuel demand rises, that same restriction may prevent the engine from receiving enough fuel.
The result can be reduced RPM, poor acceleration or complete engine shutdown.
